Mission Statement

The Student Success Internship program's mision is focused on providing professional development opportunities within UC Merced campus departments. Undergraduate students will have the opportunity to gain professional experience to advance toward a career or graduate school setting. Interns work with mentor-supervisor to develop professional skills and take an active role in creating, developing and engaging in projects within their assigned department.

Program Learning Outcomes - Interns will:

  • create connections between internship experience and course work across the curriculum;
  • identify and articulate one's skills, strengths, knowledge, and experiences relevant to desired career goals and identify areas necessary for professional growth;  
  • demonstrate personal accountability and effective work habits, e.g., work productively with others, and manage workload, and demonstrate integrity and ethical behavior;  
  • build collaborative relationships and will be able to work within a team environment; 
  • exercise sound reasoning to analyze issues, make decisions, and overcome problems and; 
  • obtain, interpret, and use knowledge, facts, and data in the internship project, and may demonstrate originality and inventiveness. 

Timeline 2018-2019

  • Monday, August 13th: Internship Project Submission Process is Currently Closed

  • Friday, September 7th: Department Intern Project Submissions Closed at 11:59 p.m.

  • Week of September 17th: Internship Project Sites Selected and Departments Notified

    • Student Intern Recruitment & Hiring Process Begins 

    • Mandatory Orientation Sessions for all Internship Site Supervisors - Times and Dates TBA

  • Wednesday, April 24, 2019: Student Success Internship Poster Symposium - 4:00-5:30 p.m.
