STEP 3: Participate in Selection Process

Mission Statement

The Student Success Internship program's mision is focused on providing professional development opportunities within UC Merced campus departments. Undergraduate students will have the opportunity to gain professional experience to advance toward a career or graduate school setting. Students team with mentor-supervisor to develop professional skills and take an active role in creating, developing and engaging in projects within their assigned department.

Program Learning Outcomes - Students will:

  • create connections between iproject experience and course work across the curriculum;
  • identify and articulate one's skills, strengths, knowledge, and experiences relevant to desired career goals and identify areas necessary for professional growth;  
  • demonstrate personal accountability and effective work habits, e.g., work productively with others, and manage workload, and demonstrate integrity and ethical behavior;  
  • build collaborative relationships and will be able to work within a team environment; 
  • exercise sound reasoning to analyze issues, make decisions, and overcome problems and; 
  • obtain, interpret, and use knowledge, facts, and data in the internship project, and may demonstrate originality and inventiveness. 

APPROVED GENERAL EDUCATION BADGE EXPERIENCE:

New this year, as part of the General Education program, each student who begins Fall 2018 or after, will need to complete eleven (11) Intellectual Badge Experiences. Badge experiences can be completed through courses and through co-curricular Intellectual Badge Experiences. Participation in this program experience will allow students to complete the Practical and Applied Knowledge badge as they participate in an 6-8 month-long on-campus project experience. Timeline 2020-2021

  • Tuesday, August 27th:  Project Submission Process Opened

  • Friday, September 18th: Department Project Submissions Deadline Closed

  • Week of September 28th: Project Sites Selected and Departments Notified

    • Student Recruitment & Projects Begin 

    • Mandatory Orientation Sessions for all Site Supervisors - Virtua

  • Wednesday, April 21, 2021: Student Success Intersnhip Poster Symposium - 4:00-5:30 p.m.
